Sketchbook Photography
Having an interest in photography has always felt like an extension of the interest that I have for my surroundings. This collection of images is a sampling of some of the subjects that I have crossed paths with over the years. I rarely take photographs any longer with the intent of exhibiting the end result as a photograph. In 2006 I started using photography more as a tool for documentation, research, inspiration and reference. I use the camera as a sketchbook; photographing objects, structures, textures or color schemes of interest. I utilize these source images to construct compositions for future prints, drawings, or works in glass. I also use the camera to document found objects that I have acquired from second hand stores, or to document the form and movement of animals, including my pets. I enjoy sharing my creative process in all aspects; from inspiration to construction to the finished works.
